Phew! The meeting was fine. I'm sure it's thinking and wondering about these things that makes it such a hurdle. I didn't recieve flowers ( shame) but I feel reasured and supported. I don't have to make any decisions about my job straight away and then in a few months, after a repeated shoulder surgery I will be assesed as to whether I will be well enough to return to my job and if that is possible I will be supported in a return to work. This will be based on the RA, Fibromyalgia as well as movement in my shoulder. I was told that I am valued in the company and will be given any assistance available. If I am not able to return to my job then another option could be redeploymet. So what a relief. Thankyou all for caring it makes it a lot easier knowing that you are sharing this with me. Glenys. x

i HAVE tried SO hard to upload a flower pic for you Glenys but have failed miserably!!
Im complately USELESS without a teenager so i'm sending you a virtual bunch instead - they were lovely too ~ great BIG yellow flowers.
Glad your meeting went well and you feel well supported and valued.
That is SO important and you're right ~ these things can have a knock on effect on physical symptoms when not feeling so positive.

Never thought i would be pleased to go and see a specialist, but I am. I need to get on new drugs and now the Naproxen is playing up with stomach cramps - horrible. Will let you known what has been said. Gleyns - how did it go. Been wondering Rose

I have just been catching up on your posts and it sounds as if you have had a very stressful time. I am glad your Manager was so thoughtful with the flowers and I am sure this helped put you at your ease.
Have you given your employer a copy of the free NRAS booklet for employers which explains everything they need to know about RA and what they can expect from you? My employer was very happy that I gave them a copy and they did admit that they did not realise how serious RA is.
In your last post you said you are getting stomach cramps from the Naproxen. Do you also take a stomach protector such as Omperazole?
Most of us do take these and you should ask you GP for a prescription as Naproxen can be very hard on your stomach.

Hello Rose, it was good thanks I posted on Monday. I had a message on my answer phone from my Area Manager yesterday saying that when I get the letter regarding the meeting on Monday, I mustn't be concerned about the wording formal wording, she didn't want me to be upset by it. She realises that I am feeling a bit sensitive at the moment which is kind of her. I hope you are OK Rose. x

Glenys - sounds as if you have a good Manager who cares for you and respects you. I am sure things will pan out
ok for you. My Manager appears also to be kind to me but as you say we are so sensitive at the moment and
what ever anyone says you still query and hang to every word. Seriously though I have been with the sane
co. for 30 yrs so have given loyal service and I enjoy the staff , but being off now for a couple months(signed off 6 mthhs) i do wonder
whether I will go back - - and/or more importantly do I want to.
To all my visit with the specialist today . Well, I have my bloods taken had x rays of feet and hands, and
had a depo in my bottom. They still want me to start on lefluom. so she is going to discuss tomorrow my case
with the Registrar to see what she feels. I was Told to stop the naproxen due to the painful abdominal pains I am getting
and the depo should help me. I said my Doc gave me injec in March and it didn't doo v much good. She said it
could be a 'slightly different mix' ! not quite sure what she means.
So all in all things moving.
How quickly do these depo (steriod injecft) work ?

Hello Rose firstly glad they stopped the naproxen if casuing such tummy pians,depo you will need to rest legs up for minum 24 to 48 hours as much as you can that way it flows better threw body and should last longer to. should last for upto 3 months as to when youl feel benefit for me was about 1 half weeks but thats me we all do tend vary. often i thought hadnt helped but bloods showed imediate esr,crp reduction thast bloods inflammtions levels. as to different mix? that i dont know sure others may do. i know ones done at rheumy clinic for me are always more effective tha ones done at gp but then my gp doesnt and isnt allowed give the full 120 mg dose that rheumy nurse etc does give us in bottom. good you had xrays done good luck with results,and bloods also you ahd busy day. take care hope you find releif soon. lv hugs melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

Hi Rosw - I'm glad the docs are still trying to make things better for you. Thanks for your message on my thread. The depo will normally take a few days to take full effect but most people on here find that they must rest for a couple of days after the jab - it seems to help it work somehow. I hope you start to see some improvement soon. If you don't - please let your rheumy nurse know as there are many anti-inflammatories to try. Good luck.

Hello all,
Thought I would update you all from my post on wed last week following the Specialist.
Welll i stopped the naproxen - a couple odd days of discomfort off and on, other than that
though - fine.
My Depo has kicked in last couple days, so less stiff and pain, so taking parcetamol
and amitrip 50 only.
Had a call yesterday PM to say Spec want test out on the llufunomide 10 mg. Brill news
I hope.
However i am off to France for 13 days on Wed so as i am out of the country it is
decided i will not start until i come back to England in case of side effects. I do hope
my depo lasts for the duration of my holiday so i do not get too stiff.
My boss sent a tex mess to me today regarding his visit of couple weeks ago to say that
HR are writing to me - I am worrying now what that says. When arrives i will let you know.
(my boss is on leave now for 3 weeks as getting married and cannot be contacted )

Hi Rose Good news that the depo has kicked in; it should last through your hols as they last up to 3 months sometimes even longer. Shame about the naproxen, it would have been good to have it as a standby whilst away. There are lots of different anti-inflammatories available and something might be suitable. Have you considered asking for an alternative just in case its needed while you are away? Pleased you are on target for the Leflunomide. Fingers crossed for a good result. Having been a manager myself I'm surprised your boss felt the need to text and say a letter is on its way from HR. The point being? Are you supposed to look forward to its arrival? Worry yourself silly over what it's going to say? Not sure I get the point of the text at all!! I would try not to worry too much about the letter, easy for me to say I know. Whatever the contents it is outside your control and right now the important thing is for you to keep the RA under control. Added stress you just don't need!! On a lighter note whereabouts in France are you going? We were there a few years ago and stayed in Najac, north of Toulouse, on the River Aveyron, a really beautiful spot.
